Max Ernst Society
The Max Ernst Society
The Max Ernst Museum Brühl des LVR works together closely with the Stiftung Max Ernst (Max Ernst Foundation) and the Max Ernst Gesellschaft (Max Ernst Society) to ensure the conservation and expansion of its collection in the long term.
Founded in 2000, the Max Ernst Society aims to foster public interest in the many facets of Max Ernst’s art, make his work accessible to a broad audience, and promote the presence of his art in his home town of Brühl. Together with its members, the Society also supports the museum and helps obtaining new works of art. In honor of its tenth anniversary, the 1967 painting Nocturne IV was purchased for the museum. In collaboration with the museum, the Society frequently hosts cultural events, meetings, and excursions which are related to Max Ernst and his art. Another goal of the society is supporting young artists. The Society sponsors half of the prize awarded annually with the City of Brühl’s Max Ernst Scholarship. In 2014, the Society was awarded the Cultural Prize of the Rhein-Erft-District for its good work.
