Where can I leave criticism or feedback?
You are welcome to leave us your constructive feedback in the guest book, which you can find in the ticket office area. We read the comments, compliments and criticism left there at regular intervals and take them seriously. In urgent cases, you can also contact us at maxernstmuseum@lvr.de or call +49 2232 5793 110.
Is there a day with free admission?
We look forward to welcoming you to the museum every last Thursday of the month with free admission, with the exception of public holidays. You can find everything you need to know about your visit here .
Is there reduced admission for seniors?
There is no reduced admission specifically for senior citizens. If you are a member of one of the listed organisations, you can visit the museum for free. You can find an overview of our discounts and free admission here .
On which public holidays will the museum remain open?
This year, the museum will be open on the following public holidays: 3 October (German Unity Day), 1 November (All Saints' Day), 26 December (2nd Christmas Day) and throughout 18-21 April 2025 (including Easter Monday) and 8-9 June 2025 (Whit Sunday and Whit Monday). Is there a free parking lot near the museum?
You can park directly behind the museum in the visitor parking lot. There are 26 parking spaces there, including two disabled parking spaces. The parking lot is only accessible during the opening hours of the museum and during special events.

May I take my jacket, bag, food or beverages into the exhibitions?
Jackets and bags can be locked in the provided lockers. Due to limited capacity, we kindly ask you to avoid bringing bags larger than DIN A4 when visiting the museum. Food and beverages are not permitted in the exhibition rooms to protect the works of art.
Am I allowed to take photographs, film or make sound recordings in the exhibitions?
The use of cameras (without flash) for private purposes is permitted in the exhibitions. Flashes, additional lighting equipment, tripods, selfie sticks, or other devices are not permitted. Contact person for image enquiries for commercial use and questions about photography and filming:

Is there free WiFi?
We offer all our visitors free WiFi access. Connect your mobile device with “freiesWLAN.LVR” after confirming the terms of use.
Is there an audio guide?
At selected artworks in the permanent exhibition ‘Max Ernst - Life and Work’ on the first and second floors, you will find QR codes that will take you to the audio guide. The guide is currently available in German, English and Easy German. Videos with more detailed audio descriptions for people with visual impairments are also available at selected works of art via QR code.
