new perspectives

Under the theme NEW PERSPECTIVES, the Max Ernst Museum Brühl of the LVR is exploring its collection through various exhibition and event formats. In addition to interventions in the collection and performances, the museum also presents its own exhibition formats. In the newly created small temporary exhibition hall on the first floor of the museum, the Leonora Carrington Hall, there will be exhibitions that focus on Max Ernst's work from new perspectives.

The exhibition SURREAL FUTURES marked the start of this new format, in which international artistic positions from 19 countries were juxtaposed with individual works from the collection.

At the end of November 2023, the Performance The Day I Became A Cloud by Emanuele Soavi incompany, developed especially for the Max Ernst Museum Brühl of the LVR, took place in the collection rooms. The German premiere was based on the world premiere at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris: Emanuele Soavi himself, the internationally renowned actress and dancer Kate Strong and members of the ESincompany ensemble created a diverse experimental relationship with the exhibited works by the artist Max Ernst and the media art of contemporary artists as part of the exhibition SURREAL FUTURES.
